Things to consider after your melanoma diagnosis (from a melanoma survivor)

  • Work with your dermatologist to determine the frequency of skin checks you will need moving forward.

  • You may be sore for quite some time depending on the details of your surgery.

  • It is important to invest in SPF clothing.

  • Understand the risk factors for your direct bloodline.

  • Wear sunscreen daily, year ‘round.

  • Wear SPF 50 wide-rimmed hats.

  • Buy a pair of UVA sunglasses.

  • Limit your sun exposure from 10am-4pm.
